The last two weeks since the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act have been…hard to watch, to say the least.
Democrats across the South have taken repeated punches in the face as Republican state legislatures continue to eliminate minority political representation at a frightening speed — even in districts where elections are already underway.
- Last week, the Virginia Supreme Court nullified the will of over 3 million voters.
- In Louisiana, the governor threw out over 45,000 ballots.
- And now, with the Supreme Court’s blessing Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, and South Carolina are all moving aggressively to disenfranchise voters and silence Black voices.
Now our fight to win back the House majority is a whole lot harder. Not impossible. But definitely harder.
I know people are exhausted and disillusioned. Believe me, I get it. But this is not the moment to throw up our hands and surrender. If we lose hope now, we’re doing Donald Trump’s work for him. And that’s a red line for me.
Voting rights are not going to restore themselves. The only way we fight back is by electing Democrats at every level — local, state, and national — who will protect democracy instead of dismantling it.
That’s exactly what MVP is working toward. But we need resources for voter outreach. For organizing. For legal fights. For candidates in must-win races. For all of it.

P.S. I know political fundraising emails can feel repetitive. Unfortunately, so can Republican attacks on voting rights. One of those things has to stop — I’m working on the second one. In the meantime:
