Tuesday was a big night for our neighbors to the south.
The Democratic nominees are now set in Iowa’s races for governor, Senate, and Congress. And for the first time in a long time, Democrats can see the stars aligning.
So here’s my request: pick a competitive Iowa race to get excited about — Midwest Values PAC is supporting all of them because the Hawkeye state is one of those places where a few key victories could have national consequences.
If you don’t need any more convincing, donate here. If you do, let’s review your options:
Option 1: Rob Sand for Governor
Rob Sand is Iowa’s State Auditor, a former public-corruption prosecutor, and — this is important — a bowhunter. Republicans are worried. The race rating just got upgraded to a toss-up, meaning there’s a genuine chance of winning a statewide ticket this fall for the first time since Barack Obama carried Iowa in 2012!
Option 2: Josh Turek for U.S. Senate
Josh Turek is running to replace Joni Ernst (everyone’s least favorite pig farmer) in the open Senate seat. He’s a Democratic state legislator who won a deep red seat, a four-time Paralympian, and a two-time gold medalist in wheelchair basketball. And he can win!
Option 3: Iowa House Races
Christina Bohannan and Sarah Trone Garriott are running in highly competitive House races that could decide the House majority.
MVP is supporting both candidates because we believe they’re exactly the kind of leaders Democrats need to be electing.
Now it’s time to help them finish the job.
One of the reasons I’m so excited about Iowa (and why you should be, too) is that the voters take politics seriously. Turnout is high. People pay attention. They ask questions. They show up.
And right now, they’re seeing firsthand how Trump’s policies are hurting their communities. Farmers are feeling the effects of reckless tariffs. Rural hospitals are under pressure from Medicaid cuts. And higher costs are hitting Iowa families and businesses.
That’s why MVP is investing in candidates who are offering real solutions and who are willing to fight for them. We’re backing leaders we believe in, leaders who are moving the conversation forward on the issues that matter most.
Al
P.S. It’s the first time since 1968 that Iowa has an open Senate race, open governor’s race, and two open congressional races! Let’s make sure we don’t mess this up!
