My wife Franni’s famous apple pie recipe

First, thank you for opening this email. You’ll be surprised how many people don’t open emails when they see it’s clearly a fundraising email.

Folks do tend to open mine. Because they know it’s actually from me, Al.

Secondly, thank you for trusting me and Midwest Values PAC. The work that we do, the money that we give in strategic places, makes a difference.

This coming cycle couldn’t be more important to the future of our very democracy. (Not to be overly dramatic.) That just happens to be true.

So, have a happy Thanksgiving and give thanks for all the great things in your life, including Midwest Values PAC.

As my thanks to you, I’m sharing my wife Franni’s famous (in Democratic–Farmer–Labor pot luck circles at least!) apple pie recipe.

P.S. We are thankful to have all four grandchildren with us again this Thanksgiving. Please help us keep our democracy for them and future generations. It’s that serious this time round!

Somehow, it’s been 20 years since I started Midwest Values PAC to help Democrats win elections — from progressive organizations to state legislatures to Congress to the White House — who share the values I grew up with in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Since 2006, Midwest Values PAC has invested more than $4 million in 341 candidates and organizations — and counting. 

Of course, none of this happens without you (or supporters like you) who care enough to pitch in.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, the work is more urgent than ever. This year, we have a big job: flip the House, take the Senate, and win up and down the ballot at the state and local level.

To mark our 20th year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: 26,000 contributions by Election Day 2026.
