Spike in positive endorphins

When I read last week’s New York Times’ polling of the 2024 battleground states, I was really discouraged. And I’m sure you were, too.

But yesterday reminded me that polls aren’t people.

Kentucky’s Democratic Governor Andy Beshear dared Republicans to come at him for his pro-choice stance and was re-elected by a comfortable margin over Mitch McConnell’s handpicked guy.

Ohioans won their ballot initiative to enshrine the right to abortion in their state constitution.

Democrats in Virginia flipped the statehouse, taking full control of the legislature and thwarting Governor Glenn Youngkin’s hopes for big GOP wins. Did I mention that Virginia is the only state in the South where abortion is not banned or severely restricted?

The point is — just like in 2018, 2020, and 2022, this election shows that voters do not support the MAGA stance on abortion. It’s almost as if voters don’t particularly enjoy the government controlling their personal health care decisions. Donald Trump is now trying to diminish his role in taking away women’s fundamental reproductive rights, but he is the one who paved the way for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. And Trump is who we’re up against next year.

Less than a year from now, we will be facing perhaps the most important election since 1860 (Lincoln’s first election!). It’s not going to be easy, which is why Midwest Values PAC needs your help. I hope you can help us help Democrats win all over the place in 2024.

Al

P.S. I hear there’s an even greater spike in positive endorphins when you donate because you have hope vs. fear. Today is a great day to test that theory!
