You know, I used to think I understood political grudges. I’ve seen people hold onto a petty disagreement like it was a family heirloom.
But Donald Trump has taken this to a whole new level. He’s turned losing the 2020 election into a full-time hobby. Not golf. Certainly not reading. Not even tweeting at 3 a.m. (okay, also that). His hobby is relitigating an election he lost — by a lot.
And now he’s talking about Republicans “taking over the voting” and even putting elections under federal control.
Before I go any further, can you donate to MVP to help us support the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS)? We’re investing in their work because they’re on the front lines defending free and fair elections — and they need our help right now.
The Constitution is very clear: states run elections. Not the White House. And definitely not a guy who still thinks he won an election he lost years ago.
Right now, Democratic Secretaries of State are the people standing between our democracy and some very bad ideas. They’re the ones protecting voter rolls, pushing back against federal overreach, and making sure elections are run fairly and securely — and they’re under attack.
In states across the country, we’re seeing voter suppression tactics dressed up as “voter integrity.” In Minnesota, for example, Republican lawmakers have proposed cutting off federal funding unless the state hands over its entire voter file to the Department of Justice. Yikes!
So here’s the good news: When you donate to MVP, you’re helping elect Democratic Secretaries of State who will protect the right to vote — and keep our elections out of the hands of anyone with an unhealthy obsession over losing one.
Thanks for standing up for democracy.
Al
P.S. DASS is the only organization solely dedicated to electing and protecting Democratic Secretaries of States. Because if we want fair elections, we need people in charge who actually believe in them.
That’s why they need your support (or the support of people like you).
