What not to say in a Republican group chat

You may have read or heard about the Young Republican (18-40 year olds) group chat where they referred to Black people as “monkeys” and “watermelon people” and joked about the Holocaust, professing their admiration for Hitler.

Yes, people were actually not just dumb enough to think it, but dumb enough to write it.

The sheer volume of hate, racism, and antisemitism in these chats is shocking. And many came from Republicans who work for GOP officeholders throughout the country.

And yet when asked about it, Vice President JD Vance excused the vile hatred. “They tell edgy, offensive jokes, like, that’s what kids do,” Vance said on a podcast. “And I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives.”

These “kids” are not kids. They’re 18-40 year-olds. And yet the Vice President came to their defense.

This is today’s Republican party.

All this just underscores the importance of winning the midterms. And that is what Midwest Values PAC is focused on.

As it becomes clearer that President Trump, backed by a Republican House and Senate and a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court, is intent on imposing an autocracy, 2026 may well be our last chance to stop him.

In 2026 MVP will be putting a special emphasis on taking the House and Senate to place a check on Trump. I hope you can help us!

P.S. Trump’s assault on our democracy is relentless. Sending troops into states, attacking law firms, universities, and networks, firing federal workers, co-opting corporate leaders. We can’t sit back, we’ve got to build up our war chests now so we can give this fight everything we’ve got.

P.P.S. Another way to fight back is to show up at your local No Kings Rally this Saturday—what Republicans are calling the “Hate America” rallies sponsored by Antifa.
