What makes you want to donate more?

The fact that Donald Trump is back in the White House? (Yeah, still hard to believe.)

Or maybe that voters in Virginia and New Jersey are already casting ballots in the first elections since his return?

Or maybe it’s that next week ballots will hit mailboxes in California, where voters will decide the fate of Prop 50 — the Election Rigging Response Act — Governor Gavin Newsom’s direct response to Texas and Trump’s favorite way to win elections…power grabs!

The case for NJ and VA: If you have eyes and ears, it’s clear Trump has been leaning further into authoritarianism every single day. That’s why we need strong Democratic governors like Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger who will fight back against the harm his administration is inflicting on people.

These elections aren’t just about two states — they’re our first chance to send Trump and his morally corrupt enablers the electoral equivalent of a giant middle finger and set the tone for the 2026 midterms.

The case for CA: Prop 50 will create five new, Democratic-leaning districts to counter the power grab and level the playing field for the 2026 midterm elections after Donald Trump demanded that Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature redraw the state’s Congressional maps and create five new, solidly-Republican districts before voting even begins.

If Prop 50 fails, it’ll be almost impossible to win back the House majority next year. And that means Trump’s anti-democratic agenda will remain unchecked — with disastrous consequences for…well, just about everything you care about.

Fortunately, thanks to your generosity (or the generosity of people like you) you don’t have to choose! Midwest Values PAC is going all-in to support these three crucial fights:

  • Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey
  • Abigail Spanberger for Governor of Virginia
  • YES on Prop 50 in California

P.S. Tomorrow is the last FEC quarterly deadline before the November elections — which is campaign-speak for, ‘If we don’t raise enough now, we’re in trouble.’ What we raise determines how much we can give to the candidates, organizations, and causes doing the hard work to win.

Midwest Values PAC supports candidates & causes that share our values.

Somehow, it’s been 20 years since I started Midwest Values PAC to help Democrats win elections — from progressive organizations to state legislatures to Congress to the White House — who share the values I grew up with in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Since 2006, Midwest Values PAC has invested more than $4 million in 341 candidates and organizations — and counting.

Of course, none of this happens without you (or supporters like you) who care enough to pitch in.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, the work is more urgent than ever. This year, we have a big job: flip the House, take the Senate, and win up and down the ballot at the state and local level.

To mark our 20th year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: 26,000 contributions by Election Day 2026.

Thanks for being part of this fight, and for sticking with us for 20 years (or for just joining — welcome!).

P.S. Over the years, okay, decades, we’ve helped Democrats win tough races all across the country by investing early, intelligently, and strategically. That’s how you flip seats. That’s how you protect democracy. And that’s how you stop the worst impulses of a president who never should have been president in the first place.
