When the Founders put the presidential pardon into the Constitution, they didn’t think it would one day be used to free rioters who stormed federal grounds or wealthy convicted felons who enriched the president by millions.
Well, Trump has done both. Repeatedly. And there’s nothing we can do to stop him.
But we can elect a Democratic House and Senate in the Midterms to put a check on the rest of Trump’s destructive agenda.
Still, we shouldn’t let these egregious pardons slip through the headlines. Here’s one of my favorites (by which I mean the most corrupt one of all):
Last month, Trump pardoned CZ, the founder of Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange. CZ had been convicted for money laundering and spent four months in prison. When he got out, CZ began supporting the Trump family’s cryptocurrency (World Liberty Financial) by ensuring their successful launch with a $2 billion dollar investment using WLF.
Okay, that’s too much. And would be illegal. How about $2,000?
Maybe that’s unreasonable. But your support means a lot to me.
Or how about $20? (My team reminded me that’s closer to our average donation.)
Now if you commit any crimes, I will not be able to help you in any way.

P.S. This week, Trump also pardoned 77 Republicans, most of whom took part in the fake electors plots across seven states when he was trying to steal the 2020 Election. Though this was largely symbolic, as almost all of them are facing state charges, it certainly reaffirms where Trump’s head is at.
