I’ll give Donald Trump this — every once in a while, he accidentally tells the truth.
Unfortunately, when he does, it’s usually something like this:

Totally affordable:
- Another war
- A brand-new ballroom
- A cool $10 billion IRS payout that somehow benefits — you guessed it — himself
“Sorry, too expensive”:
- Child care
- Health care
- Anything that makes your life a little more affordable
And on health care, it gets worse. Trump and his Republican sycophants gutted Medicaid by over a trillion dollars to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires — and now they have the nerve to say we “can’t afford” care.
That’s not math. That’s priorities. Meanwhile we’re spending a billion dollars a day on a war no one asked for in Iran.
But here’s the truth: in the richest country on Earth, we absolutely can afford child care. We can afford health care. We can afford to support working families.
Maybe — just maybe — we could spend a little more on families and a little less on…ballrooms and bombs?
Thanks,
Al
P.S. Trump is asking Congress for a $1.5 TRILLION military budget in fiscal year 2027. That’s the highest level in modern history. Oh, and he plans to cut $73 billion from housing, education, and climate programs to make room for the request. Help!
