Celebrating Democracy (while we have it)

I hope you’re enjoying your 4th of July, celebrating our democracy — while we still have it.

We are the longest-living democracy on the planet, and the world is watching to see if we will let that slip away.

This past term of the Supreme Court reminded us of the stakes of this election. If Trump wins, he can get his multi-billionaire donors to provide Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito with luxurious retirements to make room for two 45-year-old justices who are just as extreme and will be on the Court for 30 to 35 years.

This nation’s fate is on a knife’s edge, and it’s clear that November’s election will be one of the most consequential in our history. This cycle Midwest Values PAC has been giving to Democrats up and down the ballot and, as always, will be supporting ground game operations in key battleground states. We can do that only with the help of those of you who receive these emails and support what we do at MVP.

I hope that you can help us take the House and keep the Senate and White House. It is impossible to overestimate the stakes.

Somehow, it’s been 20 years since I started Midwest Values PAC to help Democrats win elections — from progressive organizations to state legislatures to Congress to the White House — who share the values I grew up with in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Since 2006, Midwest Values PAC has invested more than $4 million in 341 candidates and organizations — and counting.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, the work is more urgent than ever. This year, we have a big job: flip the House, take the Senate, and win up and down the ballot at the state and local level.

To mark our 20th year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: 26,000 contributions by Election Day 2026.
