Some say I’m too optimistic. Just kidding, nobody says that. But with a chance to win back the Senate, I bet I could change my tune.
I know what you’re thinking… “That seems difficult.”
Difficult but not impossible! See I’m already looking at the glass half full!
Democrats need to flip a net of four seats to take back the Senate majority. And here’s the good news:
- Some unexpected Republican Senators are retiring (looking at you, Joni Ernst).
- Trump’s agenda is deeply unpopular with voters and his approval ratings are tanking.
- Historically, the party out of power tends to perform better in midterms.
What I’m trying to say is, we have a chance to win back the Senate! But only with your help (or the help of people like you).
Right now, the GOP has a slim 53-47 majority. That’s just enough to push through Trump’s worst ideas and confirm judges and Supreme Court nominees who will shape this country for decades. Flipping even a handful of seats would slam the brakes on his most extreme policies.
Midwest Values PAC is already backing candidates like Roy Cooper in North Carolina, Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota, Jon Ossoff in Georgia, and Sherrod Brown in Ohio. And there are more opportunities coming soon to support Senate races in places like Texas, Maine, and Michigan.
We’re hoping to raise $10,000 by the end of the day so we can keep supporting the best Senate candidates, and the organizations that help them, through Midwest Values PAC. Please, donate a few bucks if you can.
Thanks for fighting the good fight with me,
Al
P.S. Taking the Senate — or even just shrinking the Republican margin — would allow us to fight for what actually matters: democracy, affordable health care, reproductive rights, climate action, and, yes, free speech. (Real free speech. Not the kind where they try to silence people like Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.)
