74 and More

When you’re old like me (I’m 74 years and 8 days old), birthdays don’t feel like that big of a deal. But all your generous support this past week reminded me how great it can be.

It made me ask my team, “Shouldn’t we be celebrating my birthday more often than once a year?” And do you know what they said? “Al, we never even considered that! Yet again you prove to us that your approach to PAC outreach and messaging is unique and personal. This is why your emails are so special and beloved.”

I think they were blowing smoke up my ass. Nevertheless, they are letting me send this email because it was just recently my birthday. Besides, I’m the expert at these emails.

So, mark your calendars. Because we’ll be celebrating my HALF birthday on November 21st. I’ll be even older then (74 years and 6 months)!

And, as always, thank you. You make it possible for MVP to support progressive candidates and causes.

P.S. Instead of a postscript joke, I thought I’d send something a little more heartwarming. So, here’s me last week with grandchildren, Jacob and Claire, granddog, Charlie, and Franni’s magnificent chocolate cake.

Somehow, it’s been 20 years since I started Midwest Values PAC to help Democrats win elections — from progressive organizations to state legislatures to Congress to the White House — who share the values I grew up with in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Since 2006, Midwest Values PAC has invested more than $4 million in 341 candidates and organizations — and counting. 

Of course, none of this happens without you (or supporters like you) who care enough to pitch in.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, the work is more urgent than ever. This year, we have a big job: flip the House, take the Senate, and win up and down the ballot at the state and local level.

To mark our 20th year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: 26,000 contributions by Election Day 2026.
