Superior Telegram: Lassa lays plan for jobs

As the race for 7th District congressional seat heats up, Democratic candidate, state Sen. Julie Lassa of Stevens Point is turning her attention to jobs.

Lassa has created a three-tier plan to get Wisconsinites and the nation back to work.

Chippewa Herald: Lassa: Stop policies sending jobs overseas

Julie Lassa says policies encouraging U.S. companies to ship jobs to Mexico, China and India make no sense.

“I think we have policies in place that are really a race to the bottom,” said Lassa, a state senator from Stevens Point.

She said U.S. policies need to level the playing field, so they don’t force workers or companies to lower standards.

Wausau Daily Herald: Julie Lassa asks federal legislators to take a pay cut

Democratic congressional candidate Julie Lassa called on federal lawmakers Wednesday to take a 10 percent pay cut until the national unemployment rate returns to pre-2008 levels.

The National Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated the unemployment rate at 5.8 percent nationally in 2008 and 9.3 in 2009.

Wausau Daily Herald: Column: Lassa is the best choice for us

We haven’t seen an open Congressional seat here since 1969, when Rep. Mel Laird of Marshfield resigned to become Secretary of Defense. In that election, Republican state Sen. Walter John Chilsen faced off against Democratic state Rep. Dave Obey.

We all know how that election turned out. But while Obey’s decision not to run again will guarantee that we’ll have a new representative in central Wisconsin, what is not guaranteed is whether our new representation will be worthy of us.
