KEYC: Rep. Walz Calls on House to Pass Farm Bill

Congressman Tim Walz is calling on the House of Representatives to bring forward the new Farm Bill. This morning Walz and other farming leaders spoke at Minnesota Soybean in Mankato.

Walz says the farm bill affects more than farmers, saying “If we don’t get this done this thing collapses into uncertainty and you will see increased food prices you will see uncertainty in the market and you will see the rural economy suffer because of that because these guys aren’t going to go out and buy new equipment.”

The 1st District Democrat says this bill is more about food and quality nutrition, which affects everyone. In July the bill passed through the House Agriculture Committee with a strong bipartisan vote of 35-11. However, the House is in recess for most of August.
