The Desert Sun: Clean energy business visited by U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer

U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer visited a Palm Desert company Friday not just to provide a pat on the back, but to signal that a shot in the arm may be on the way.

“We’re going to need to embrace this clean energy future, and you’re doing it right here,” the senator said in a news conference at Renova Energy Corp., 75-181 Mediterranean Ave. “Not only are you creating jobs, but you’re creating the next generation of clean energy workers.”

During her visit, Boxer told company officials that Republican Sen. George V. Voinovich of Ohio had agreed to support the Small Business Jobs Act, giving it enough votes to overcome a possible filibuster.

“This bill will offer targeted tax relief to small businesses and help get the credit flowing,” she said.

The legislation, which incorporates provisions of bills that Boxer and others had penned, would provide tax cuts and create a $30 billion loan fund.
