The Daily Stamford: Blumenthal Calls Endorsement Special

Getting the endorsement of first lady Michelle Obama on Monday was a big deal for Richard Blumenthal in his bid to win a seat in the U.S. Senate. But Tuesday’s endorsement by the Stamford Police Association means even more to him.

“This is the biggie. Your support has very special meaning to me,” Blumenthal said at police headquarters Tuesday. Sgt. Joseph M. Kennedy, the group’s president, made the announcement along with a number of Stamford police officers.

“Richard Blumenthal has been a true friend of law enforcement throughout his career as attorney general and while serving in the state legislature,” said Kennedy. Blumenthal represented a Stamford district in the State House before being elected attorney general.

“I have a special bond with the people of Stamford. I’ve walked all the streets of the city and consider it my hometown,” Blumenthal said.
