Nashua Telegraph: Hodes pushes green energy, national renewable standard

NASHUA – Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Paul Hodes said Wednesday that more tax credits and a national standard on the use of renewable energy would help create more “clean energy” jobs.

The two-term congressman said he would pay for his proposals through the elimination of federal subsidies for the oil and gas industry plus $60 billion in targeted defense cuts.

Hodes said using more energy from wind, solar, geothermal and other renewable sources would improve the economy, clean the environment and enhance national security as the U.S. reduced dependence on foreign oil.

“Too often we focus on the word cost versus the word investment,” Hodes said in an interview. “We must invest in renewable energy.”

Hodes toured ARC Energy, a pioneer in creating technology to make highly efficient light bulbs. Since President Obama visited the Celina Avenue company earlier this year, it has grown from six to 24 jobs.
