Let's all really stop this weekend and remember the 2464 young men and women American troops that George Bush has killed in the last 3 years. Then stop and pause and think of all the civilian Iraqies that have died somewhere ere between 37,000and 43,000 people. Then think of the Americans physically wounded in Bushes egotastic war 17869 and then think of the psychologically damaged people who we are unable to count. Men, Women, and children......Does that make you proud to be an American?

Away from the things of man..................

Right on!

I agree. It's so important to honor the dead and to support our troops even though we may not agree with them being where they are. The troops have no choice about being there or not. Direct your ire at Bush and his administration and pray for the troops who are sent to carry out his illbegotten and self-serving foreign policy.

I Support Our Troops

Thank you for reminding us of the terrible costs of this war. One of my softball coaches was a Vietnam Vet and he had been a POW for nearly a year there. I remember his stories about the horrors he went through and then the terrible treatment he received upon his return to the United States (it made me cry). I think that, regardless of how we feel about the war, we all have a duty to honor, respect, and assist our fellow citizens returning from fighting a war. Surely, we (and the government aftercare systems) are going to be overwhelmed with the needs of the wounded soldiers, psychologically damaged soldiers, and family members who have lost a loved one. I think that a great thing we all could do is to find a way to contribute to the healing.
