I finished reading Benjamin Franklin An American Life by Walter Isaacson. If you ever start forgetting what it's like to be middle class, and what an American is about - then this book will help refresh your memory.

What I'm Reading...
By Leonard Woolf Aug 23rd 2006 at 7:32 pm EDT
Finishing up The Truth (With Jokes) by our beloved Mr. Franken, and half-way through Thomas Ricks's Fiasco, though I grow more and more incensed with every page. Also reading Winkie by Clifford Chase, a truly odd and stirring story of a teddy bear that comes to life, escapes the abandoned home of his former owners and is eventually arrested and tried for terrorist crimes. Highly recommended.

Next up, The Assassins' Gate: America in Iraq by George Packer, then Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl, which I'm looking forward to immensely.

I'll add anohter vote for Ricks. He's been on Al's show a couple of times and yes - you get more and more irritated at the absolute mismanagement of our country and this "war" with Iraq by the Bush administration.

Bush actually said on Monday that he has never suggested that Iraq had any ties to 9/11.

What does he have - short-term memory loss?

Why do people believe anything he says???

I recently finished reading Hostile Takeover by David Sirota and I highly recommend it. Of the nearly 30 political books I've read in the last two years, this is my favorite.
I'm currently reading The Republican Noise Machine by David Brock.

That's interesting - another book that's mentioned on Al's show. He plays "My Sharona" whenever he has Dave Sirota on. :)

That should be a book worth reading!
