Not trying to sell these to y'all -- but I've been getting GREAT feedback on them from all over the nation and I thought just about everyone here might get a kick out of the new symbols and the slogans.
What am I talking about?
Meet the General, a five star pig, who's just arrived on
the election battlefield to represent the shape of the post-GIPper
Republican Party. He's brandishing a killer new acronym and he's loaded
full boar with side splitting Republican campaign slogan ammo!
(Slogans like... "Together We Can Prevent Change," "Together We Can Make Sure Our Troops NEVER Come Home," "Vote Republican Or We'll Put You On The Terrorist List" and dozens more!)
See The General, read the campaign slogans, laugh til your belly aches and then laugh some more:
http://www.cafepress.com/melhi/5786389
Press Release (I need lots of clicks to make it into Google News, so if you like the piggies, maybe help me get them there with a click to the Press Release):
http://www.prlog.org/10098848-new-symbol-for-todays-republican-party.html
And...Me shamelessly trying to seduce Stephen into bringing me on the Colbert Report as a guest by waving a big juicy weiner in his face:

Hope you enjoy! :)

It has always tickled me, when my staunchly Republican neighbors, eagerly and with giddy zeal, point out stark dichotomies in the opinions or positions of prominent members of my own party or the lack of a core message among all of our candidates at every level, as a certain sign of our party's "end times." I generally fail to stifle an "are you kidding me?" laugh and tell them, "Of course we disagree, we're Democrats. That's what we do." The diversity of our positions, opinions, beliefs and selves is precisely what brings us together as a party.
It is with somewhat less innocently amused pleasure that I now watch and stifle somewhat more evilly derived laughter as these same staunchly Republican neighbors cringe at each new dissension among their own rank & file and find themselves increasingly unsure where they should stand on the issues of the day. If it wasn't clear, before, it's certainly clear now that diversity of their positions, opinions, beliefs and selves is a divisive force among their members that threatens to rip their party apart at the seams.
...And for all the talk, mainly from a small number of prominent partisan Libertarians and non-partisan independents, about the two major parties being clones, one of the other, there is no clearer indication of the stark difference between the two major parties than what coalesces the members of each into a party and what tears the members of each asunder.

AP headline: "Democrats now look to sustain majority"
Correction: Democrats now begin working toward earning an even greater majority.
Nov. 7th didn't herald the end of the mission, but the beginning.

Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada)"...the first order of business, when Democrats formally take over in January will be to reinvigorate Congressional scrutiny of the executive branch, with a focus on Iraq...let's find out what's going on with the war in Iraq..."
Hmmm... I hear water-boarding is a good way to get information out of people who don't like sharing it.

Ok, I'll admit it. As sick and twisted as it may be, I've gotten a lot of comedic mileage out of Bush's even more sick and twisted hiring practices and various sick and twisted Republican missteps, scandals, oopsies, behaviors, etc. Shame on me. Shame, shame, shame.

Please consider visiting Democracy For America to vote for Dr. David Gill (IL-15) to advance to the next round of their competition for a campaign contribution & official support.
David is a strong progressive candidate and a practicing physician, giving him unique insight into the problems with the health care system and what needs to be done to fix it -- this isn't theory and conjecture on his part, it's experience and first-hand knowledge.
David is a family man whose eyes light up when he's with or talking about his wife or his children -- and, let's face it, that's something we don't often see in candidates for federal office. He doesn't just understand (or claim to understand) my fears about the future being shaped for my children, he shares those concerns and that's a big part of why he's running.
I wouldn't ask you to click straight through to the DFA site and vote for David Gill, without knowing more about him -- please visit his website first, to see where he stands on the various issues -- www.gill2006.com I'm sure you'll agree that we need David Gill and lot more people like him working for us in the Congress!
(For point of reference, David's opponent is Republican incumbent Timothy V. Johnson. Johnson originally ran on self-imposed term limts, a promise he is breaking with his current bid for re-election. He received and has kept more money from Tom DeLay's ARMPAC than any other Illinois candidate -- that's right, even more than Hastert! -- and then proceeded to vote with DeLay more than 85% of the time. If you've ever tried to debate the issues with a Fox News viewer who doesn't know where to stand on the issues until Fox News tells him/her where to stand -- you have an idea of what it's like to be represented by Timothy V. Johnson with his consistent refusal to declare his own position on important issues until after the major players in his party have declared theirs. But, as easy as it would be to look at Johnson's record and throw blind yellow-dog support to David, I'm proud to say that I give very little thought to Johnson, in my support of David. This is because David's the candidate I've been hoping would want to represent me in Washington, all along. For me, this isn't about "throwing the bum out," it's about getting a good man in.)

Thanks in advance for you consideration!
...and, hey -- if you have a similar candidate in your district, please put him/her on MY radar screen and let me know when he/she needs a similar show of support. We're all in this together! E Pluribus Unum.

I've started a new MVP issues forum -- "This Wretched Neo-conomy." This is a broad-topic forum for discussion of topics related to the economy... surviviing it, being ground under its bootheel, fixing it, how and why they're destroying it, the jobs market, the effect the big box industry has had on it, our role in the global economy, trade deficits, budget deficits, etc.
I know all of us have a lot to say on these issues, from rants to ideas. I hope you'll consider joining and speaking your mind!
(Feel free to discuss global, national, state & local economy issues. You'll find it under Groups-Issues.)
Thanks!
