Hello! My name is Asher Heimermann of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I enjoy politics and government. I'm fighting for Honest Government, Youth Rights, Education for All, and World Peace.

Please feel free to visit my website at http://www.ASHERHEIMERMANN.com to learn more about myself and my youth activism campaign.
It's hard to make a choice between two corrupt candidates. Rod Blagojevich, affectionately (?) known as "G-Rod," is under federal investigation for a number of things, including possibly accepting bribes for state jobs. Judy Barr-Topinka made a name for herself working for Goerge Ryan, who recently had the honor of becoming a convicted felon. If one can overlook the problems surrounding her recent boss, one is left a weak candidate with few ideas aside from bashing G-Rod. She also seems to want to scale back school funding and state health care for kids... Whom to choose?

Let me suggest Rich Whitney, a Green Party candidate from Carbondale, who has a lot of great ideas for changing "business as usual" in the corrupt state of Illinois. He stands for clean energy, campaign finance reform, peace, education, environmental protection, and civil rights, among other things.

Isn't it great having healthcare these days? Don't you just love it when you have to pay a high monthly premium, and you still have to pay a copayment for doctor visits and hospital stays? There's nothing I'd like better than to wake up from a coma, and have a large bill shoved in my face. We need campaign finance reform and to expand Medicare and Medicaid for Universal Health Care (1).

Please consider visiting Democracy For America to vote for Dr. David Gill (IL-15) to advance to the next round of their competition for a campaign contribution & official support.

David is a strong progressive candidate and a practicing physician, giving him unique insight into the problems with the health care system and what needs to be done to fix it -- this isn't theory and conjecture on his part, it's experience and first-hand knowledge.

David is a family man whose eyes light up when he's with or talking about his wife or his children -- and, let's face it, that's something we don't often see in candidates for federal office. He doesn't just understand (or claim to understand) my fears about the future being shaped for my children, he shares those concerns and that's a big part of why he's running.

I wouldn't ask you to click straight through to the DFA site and vote for David Gill, without knowing more about him -- please visit his website first, to see where he stands on the various issues -- www.gill2006.com I'm sure you'll agree that we need David Gill and lot more people like him working for us in the Congress!

(For point of reference, David's opponent is Republican incumbent Timothy V. Johnson. Johnson originally ran on self-imposed term limts, a promise he is breaking with his current bid for re-election. He received and has kept more money from Tom DeLay's ARMPAC than any other Illinois candidate -- that's right, even more than Hastert! -- and then proceeded to vote with DeLay more than 85% of the time. If you've ever tried to debate the issues with a Fox News viewer who doesn't know where to stand on the issues until Fox News tells him/her where to stand -- you have an idea of what it's like to be represented by Timothy V. Johnson with his consistent refusal to declare his own position on important issues until after the major players in his party have declared theirs. But, as easy as it would be to look at Johnson's record and throw blind yellow-dog support to David, I'm proud to say that I give very little thought to Johnson, in my support of David. This is because David's the candidate I've been hoping would want to represent me in Washington, all along. For me, this isn't about "throwing the bum out," it's about getting a good man in.)

Thanks in advance for you consideration!

...and, hey -- if you have a similar candidate in your district, please put him/her on MY radar screen and let me know when he/she needs a similar show of support. We're all in this together! E Pluribus Unum.

It really amazes me to see all the press about Rummy. There is not anything that the Republican party would want to happen more than for the media to shift the focus to Rummy or Cheney. What a waste of time it is to even discuss his resignation. Everything he could have done to screw up the Iraq war has already been done. The President has agreed with him on every issue and would only replace him with someone just as bad or worse. The only way to get rid of him is to elect at least a Democratic house to conterbalance the Presidents insanity and provide some sort of oversight to prevent mistakes in the future. Democrats need to present plans to ease the Social Security crisis, balance the budget and insure that lobbyists are legally prevented from buying favors or contracts from our representatives. They also need to point out the serious failures of the Republican controlled branches of the Government. When persons purporting to represent the Democratic side of the issue are on radio or television unless their names are Pelosi, Reid or Dean I question the validity of their representation. I believe all Democrats other than the aforementioned should plainly state as part of any interview that the comments are personal and may or may not coincide with the majority of the Democratic party. The problem is not that we have no ideas it's that we have too many ideas being trumpeted as Democratic talking points. Good ideas not put forward by the leaders of the party should automatically trigger e-mail response to individual representatives and the leaders agreeing with and enhancing if possible any ideas heard. The leaders should be able to state the reasons why legitimate ideas will or will not be discussed in regards to being placed on the Democratic platform. We cannot sit by and allow a united Republican party make Democrats look wishy-washy on issues by not taking a united stand ourselves on issues important to the citizens of this country. Healthcare, Integrity, Immigration, Border Security, Voter Rights, Diplomacy(Foreign Policy) and Fiscal Responsibility are issues that will bring out the vote if we stand for something. So, lets drop the attacks on the incompetents that we must live with until 2008 and go on the offensive with competency in ideas for the future with the betterment of the country and society as a goal.
