Patrick Leahy

U.S Senator, Vermont

Elected to the United States Senate at age 34, Patrick Leahy is the first Democrat to represent Vermonters in the U.S. Senate, where he now ranks third in seniority. He serves as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and of the Foreign Operations Subcommittee. He also serves on the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee and on the Appropriations Committee, where he is a member of the Defense, Interior, Homeland Security, VA-HUD, and Commerce-Justice-State sub-committees.

Born in Montpelier, Vermont, Senator Leahy graduated from Saint Michael’s College and earned his law degree from Georgetown University. He and his wife Marcelle have three children and five grandchildren.
