A 46-year-old former Airborne Ranger and decorated Iraq War veteran, Bryan Lentz was driven to run for office after witnessing the consequences of decisions made by poorly informed policy makers in Iraq. In 2006, just two years after returning from service, Bryan defeated a 28-year Republican incumbent to represent a state house district in a Republican stronghold in the southwest Suburbs of Philadelphia. Since taking office, Bryan, a former prosecutor, has fought to make state government more accountable to Pennsylvania’s residents, supporting laws that opened government records to the people, and put an end to back room deals. Bryan also strongly supported the state’s renewable energy economy, believing it is key to energy independence, improving our environment and creating new jobs.
As a Congressman, Bryan has vowed to fight to maintain hard won gains from the past two years. He is a strong supporter of health care reform, believing much work remains to keep insurance affordable and accessible. He also wants to ensure Wall Street bankers can never again make the kind of gambles that damaged our economy. Bryan will also continue the fight to establish our energy independence, believing it pays dividends in the areas of national security and job growth. Bryan has always supported a woman’s right to choose, and strongly opposes privatizing social security. Bryan currently lives in Swarthmore with his wife, Jennifer, and young son Thomas.
